Summer Mountain Report

 Monday  August 21st, 12pm

What a magnificent experience to receive, we are truly lucky to be here!  It’s currently 55 at the base and 49 at the summit winds are 6 mph out of the sw.  The temperature is gradually warming up as the moon finishes its passing over the sun. We will continue to have sunny skies for the rest of the day.  The lifts are closed today, however, the activities are now open as well as base area businesses. If you were lucky enough to join us today on the mountain or looking for something to do this afternoon, there’s another Free concert on the Commons at 2pm featuring Pinky and the Floyd.    We surely saw the dark side of the moon.

We hope everyone has a wonderful day! –T.R.

August 21st, Monday 7am

The day is finally here! The Great American Eclipse is starting it's traverse across the country. Traffic in Jackson Hole and across the state is picking up  - so plan head and give yourself plenty of time to get into your eclipse viewing location.  There are some high clouds in the sky now, but we are hopeful these will burn off as the day goes along.

2 More Eclipse Fun Facts: Corona rainbows happen when the air is full of water molecules.  This is caused if it had been raining and suddenly clears during the eclipse.  The water vapor still in the air left over from the rain causes tiny rainbows.

360 degree sunset-During totality, when the sun is completely covered by the moon, you can see what looks like a sunset in ever direction around the horizon.

Don't forget your eclipse viewing glasses - and review the proper safe viewing protocol for this special celestial event!

Stay informed and enjoy    – T.R.
